As EDUSIGN & SIGNEDU Project and Istinye University, we took our place at the Accessibility Fair & Awareness Summit held on 1-4 December, 2022. At our booth, which attracted great interest, we introduced our project to the visitors and aimed to raise awareness by talking about our work on the Sign Language Interpreting Curriculum.
We also organized meetings by our project partners to raise awareness. "EDUSIGN & SIGNEDU: Joint Venture of Curriculum Studies and Artificial Intelligence in Sign Language" presentation was made by Dr. Ülkü Kölemen from Istinye University; "Sign Language Education and Deaf Studies in Turkey" by Hasan Dikyuva from Turkish Confederation of the Deaf; "The Transforming History of Deaf Education in Finland" by Päivi Rainò and Juha Manunen from HUMAK University of Applied Sciences; "Deaf Education Practices in Sweden" by Ingela Holmström from Stockholm University; "Deaf Rights in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities" by Banu Türkuğur Şahin from Association of Turkish Sign Language Interpreters; "Artificial Intelligence Based Accessible Solutions to Communication Problems of the Deaf" by Ahmet Faruk Arslan from Osmangazi University. Thanks to Turkish-English-Turkish Sign Language Simultaneous Interpretation provided during our events, hearing and hearing-impaired individuals participated in our events.
